The notion of Base is amongst the main representations within the system of the Great Perfection. This Base, which is the expression of the real nature of the Mind, is defined according to a primordially pure Essence (ngo bo), a spontaneously accomplished Nature (rang bzhin) and an all-pervading Compassion (thugs rje). In this booklet, these three modalities called the Three Wisdoms of the Base, are described and explained according to canonical sources, i.e. the original Tantras of Dzogchen, as well as the exegetical works by Longchenpa (1308-1364).
