The visions that one contemplates during Thögel practice are all manifestations of the transparent Essence (ngo bo zang thal) of the Wisdom of one’s Awareness. These visions thus are intimately connected to one’s original condition that is defined in Dzogchen texts as one’s “natural state”, or one’s “primordial state”. This state abides in both a sapiential and a visionary mode. It is the second aspect that is discussed in the present issue, following Vajradhara’s secret teaching in the Dra Thelgyur.
